"Little" Bob with the 2012 Bike MS Western PA Escape Ride

"Little" Bob helped Ron & Carol Bevlin, and Larry & Colleen Powell with the 2012 Bike MS Western PA Escape Ride that was held June 9th and 10th. The ride began in Zelienople, PA with an overnight stop at the Allegheny College in Meadville. On the second day (June 10th) the ride was split. About half of the bicyclists rode to the Conneaut Lake, Ohio end point and the other half rode a return loop back to Zelienople, PA. Grand total of bikers were over 1300.

The weekend started early for the four as they had to get up around 4 am so they could leave their homes and get to the gathering points for the motorcylce riders. Mike Ammerman, motorcycle leader placed the volunteers at main crossroads along the route.

Ron, Carol, Larry and Colleen were placed at the last crossroad before Allegheny College. With the help of "Little" Bob the four assisted bikers when they had a problem, told them which route was the direct one to the college (finish line) and which route was the century loop (100 mile part). They manned their crossroad from about 9:30 am until after 4:30. The weather was beautiful with temperatures up to near 90 degrees. It was a long day but very rewarding.

"Little" Bob got to stay overnight at the PHI KAPPA PSI faternity house on campus. Plus dine at the McKinley's cafeteria of the college.

 On Sunday, June 10th, there was early arousal time again. The four was up before 5 am so they could get their breakfast and be ready to travel by 6:45 am. Since motorcyclists were in short supply for the ride to the lake, the couples each had a crossroad north. Larry and Colleen's first bike rider went past them by 7:40 and then passed Ron and Carol by 8 am even though the mileage between them was about 10 miles. By 10 am all bikers had rode past and the couples were done for the day.

So "Little" Bob got to have a nice ride south to Cranberry PA where the couples enjoyed a great meal before parting for home.

Ron and Colleen took pictures of "Little" Bob helping on Saturday. But I think he got bored during the day and erased the pictures from the camera. So I took pictures today of "Little" Bob holding the Volunteer Packet and showing a picture of bikers riding one of the hills.
