GWTA is the best club I could ever belong to. I couldn’t believe the amount of cards I received for my birthday and for being in the hospital. Some people sent 2-3 cards; it was overwhelming but very welcome. We have good people in the club. I received cards from Chapter Z and Chapter Y, and from people I don’t even know – some signed their names and others just said Chapter Y. I’m really looking forward to meeting them, hopefully on April 14th at Chapter Z’s meeting.
You can advertise all you want, saying it’s this and it’s that, but when you’re in the club, it’s totally different – I can’t explain it. These people care. It’s a small club without clicks. A smaller group is better and you don’t have attitudes. In some organizations I belonged to, if you’re not in the click, you’re not part of the group. I’m glad I joined GWTA. The people come in because they want to be with other people. It works out great. I never expected the amount of people sending me cards and wishing me luck. I never had that before.
Everyone’s happy to be in this club and happy to be together. I get to see them every other week.
I belonged to other organizations but they didn’t have the get-togethers like the monthly meetings and dinner rides. They were just a bunch of people getting together and riding. Before I joined this organization, I expected it to be like other clubs I belonged to. This is the first time I ever belonged to a club where they get together Tuesday night and go for dinner. It’s a good group of people that do that. You don’t find that with other groups.
I noticed that the people in GWTA were strangers the first time you met them and friends the second time. No doubt about it.
